~Truth about PitBulls~
PitBulls are NOT an AGGRESSIVE BREED of DOG. * According to the American Temperament Testing Association APBTs have an 85.3% passing rate. This is higher than Collies, Golden Retrievers, and other dogs generally considered "family friendly". The average dog population is around 77%. Did you realize that the American Temperament Testing Society did tests on 122 breeds of dogs and Pit Bulls scored HIGHER than Beagles and Golden Retrievers Did you know that a Labrador Retriever will bite quicker than a Pit Bull will? http://www.squidoo.com/pitbullmyths Pit Bulls have been historically maligned. And unfairly. When you hear about a horror story about a Pit Bull (and you will, because the media loves hyping them up), 99% of the time it is the fault of a neglectful owner or a stupid human. Pure and simple. Pit Bulls are not lap dogs, although they may think they are. They are intelligent, super-loyal, very loving, and have high amounts of energy. And you'd be hard-pressed to find another breed with more raw athletic ability. However, they can be stubborn and thick-headed, and so they require the attention of an owner who is smart and patient. But the rewards are well worth the effort, as many can attest. http://www.pitbulls.org/ Pit Bulls have gotten an extremely bad rap over the years as dangerous, unpredictable animals that should never be around children. The truth is that Pitbulls themselves are not the problem, but rather their owners are to blame. *A little patience and a lot of love will lead to a well behaved Pitbull. Responsible owners who teach their dogs the right way to act are the only thing that can help erase the negative image many people have of the breed.*
I am here to spread the TRUTH about Pit Bull Terriers and Bully breeds that are considered vicious. Don't believe what the media tells you and don't be ignorant. Find out the facts before you judge!
~MYTHS~
Pit Bull Skull Myth One myth that has jumped from dog breed to breed involves the size of a pit bull's skull. This myth states that a pit bull's brain can swell to a size that cannot be accommodated by the skull, causing pit bulls to go insane. This myth, which has also been attributed to Dobermans, is completely unfounded and untrue.
Pit Bull Behavior Myths Along with myths surrounding the physical aspects of pit bulls, there are also a number of pit bull myths associated with the behavior of these dogs. First and foremost, many people believe that pit bulls are inherently aggressive and more likely to attack their owners and other people. This is simply not the case. Pit bulls, like any other dogs, do not exhibit aggressive behavior without reason or provocation.
